About the programme

Even if you have experience studying at undergraduate level in another country, the expectations of postgraduate study in the UK may be very different from what you’ve encountered before. This one-semester Pre-Master’s programme is designed to bridge that gap. Through interactive classes and university-style research sessions, you will gain the fundamental academic skills and confidence needed to succeed at Master’s level.

Our classes focus on strengthening the key academic skills required for postgraduate study, including:

  • Academic Language

  • Academic Writing

  • Critical Thinking

  • Constructing Academic Arguments

  • Preparing a Literature Review

  • Academic Presentation Skills

  • Academic Poster Preparation

This programme is suitable for students progressing to a wide range of postgraduate degrees across all colleges at the University of East London.

Key facts

Minimum English language level:

Academic IELTS 5.5 overall (with no component below 5.5) or equivalent.

Academic entry requirements:

3 year degree in an area relevant to Master’s degree or equivalent.
 
Each applicant will be considered individually and assessed on their ability to succeed at this level.

Minimum age requirement:

Students must be 18 years of age.
