Football fever has hit the UEL International Study Centre this month, celebrating the Euro 2024 tournament taking place in Germany during June.
First, our International Foundation Programme male students played against the International Year One Computing team. Our IYO team came out on top in a close game enjoyed by all our players, in one of a number of sporting events planned this summer.
Following this game, on the hottest day of the year in East London, our female students, with our staff, played a hard fought game on the UEL’s pitch, part of the University’s award winning sports complex built for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Student Services Manager, Mythili Theivendran, explained ‘our Student Voice Groups have been requesting more sporting opportunities and we were really happy to see so many students taking advantage of the football games, and that we were able to have male and female games this term. We are looking forward to the rest of the Euro 2024 competition and to more student sports events including cricket and basketball in the ISC, coinciding with the Paris 2024 Olympics!’
